What happened
A survey from SVT across 75 electoral districts in vulnerable areas shows that support for the Tidö parties has decreased from 27.6 to 19.9 percent since the 2022 election.
Sverigedemokraterna decline by 3.9 percentage points to 9.9 percent, while the governing parties Moderaterna, Kristdemokraterna, and Liberalerna together receive 10 percent of the votes.
Socialdemokraterna and Vänsterpartiet together gather 73.6 percent of the votes in these districts, with Vänsterpartiet being the party that increases the most.
Partiet Nyans simultaneously declines by 5.7 percentage points, landing at 0.3 percent.
Our analysis
Singling out residential areas and speaking disparagingly about people's everyday lives comes at a political cost. Voters in these areas hear what is being said, and they respond at the ballot box.
When Moderaterna in Göteborg explain the collapse by saying they should have talked more about people making ”fantastic contributions”, they miss the point. New Swedes are not asking for praise for doing their part. They are asking for policies that do not treat them as a general problem or make their security conditional on having to ”behave”.
Explained
The Tidö parties is the collective name for the government – Moderaterna, Kristdemokraterna, and Liberalerna – along with their cooperation partner Sverigedemokraterna, who together entered into the so-called Tidö Agreement after the 2022 election.
