What happened
The proportion of ninth-grade students eligible for upper secondary vocational programs in Järfälla decreased to 83 percent in 2026, according to figures from Skolverket. This is a decrease of one percentage point from the previous year, when the figure was 84 percent. Across the country, eligibility stood at 84 percent, and for the first time, the proportion of eligible boys was slightly higher than the proportion of girls. At the same time, differences between schools in the municipality are large. Internationella Engelska Skolan Järfälla had the highest proportion of eligible students at 96 percent, while Kvarnskolan achieved the lowest result at 74 percent.

A difference of 22 percentage points between two schools in the same municipality shows how divided schools have become. When more than one in four students at a school leaves compulsory school without full eligibility, the door closes early for many young people. The standard debate often places the blame on individual students or families. Instead, the figures show a system where conditions differ sharply depending on which school the student attends.
